Overview

Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools is seeking a Head Oral Interpretation Coach to promote their mission of fostering a community of faith and learning. The ideal candidate will create an environment of trust and integrity while helping students prepare for oral interpretation competitions.

Key responsibilities

  • Promote the mission of Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools
  • Prepare cuttings in the seven oral interpretation competitive categories
  • Help students prepare introductions for their interpretation selections
  • Schedule coaching sessions for competitive interpreters
  • Organize registration for competitive oral interpretation tournaments
  • Arrange transportation and lodging for out-of-town tournaments
  • Monitor and chaperone students during overnight stays
  • Maintain financial accounts of all expenditures
  • Prepare the team for the National Forensic League Tournament
  • Organize and host the end-of-year oral interpretation banquet
  • Maintain an organized library of past oral interpretation selections
  • Judge interpretation and forensic events at tournaments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree with SD teaching certification
  • Degree in theatre or communication studies
  • Training or experience in oral interpretation coaching techniques
  • Extensive knowledge in dramatic literature and various forms of prose
  • Organizational skills for competitive travel
  • Familiarity with oral interpretation competition rules and NFL rules
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to act as a witness to the Catholic faith
