Job Description

Overview

Belvidere Sand & Gravel, a partner with The H&K Group, is seeking an experienced Groundperson to support production and maintenance. The ideal candidate should be safety-focused and excel at teamwork, performing plant maintenance and ensuring a clean work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Conduct plant maintenance tasks
  • Maintain clean work areas including catwalks and general plant area
  • Learn plant functions and operations proactively
  • Take direction and work collaboratively with site personnel
  • Cross-train to learn all jobs within the plant and substitute when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work a 1st or 2nd shift schedule
  • Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE
  • Physical ability to meet job-related demands
  • 3+ months related experience
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, specifically loaders
  • Experience in quarry, heavy civil construction, or outdoor industrial settings
  • MSHA or relevant safety certification
