Our firm provides a full range of government affairs services, including policy development and analysis, lobbying, coalition management, business development, and communications planning for clients including top energy, industrial, and mobility companies, leading industry coalitions, major policy think tanks, and some of the largest investment firms in the world.About the RoleSuccessful candidates will play a key role at BSP, working in close partnership with more senior team members to support client engagement, strategy development, and government affairs execution. Responsibilities and level of independence will grow with experience. Core responsibilities and competencies include:Client Engagement. Support client engagement, strategy development, and government affairs execution, with growing independence and ownership as you gain seniority. Indicative workstreams could include tailored appropriations requests, federal funding application support, scheduling and preparing for Congressional stakeholder meetings, and drafting public comments to federal regulatory dockets. All levels will be expected to draft briefing materials and help prepare clients for meetings with government stakeholders. Candidates hired for the Director position are expected to be able to independently manage discrete client workstreams with minimal senior guidance and oversight.Excellent Research and Project Management Abilities. Perform legislative and policy research, help design legislative strategy, and write compelling policy and business content to inform multi-pronged government affairs strategies. Manage projects and produce reports or analyses with increasing independence, presenting findings to BSP staff or clients.External Relationships and Coalition Building. Build and foster relationships with key policymakers in Congress and across Executive Branch departments and agencies, as well as other influential federal government-oriented stakeholders. Represent client interests with national trade associations and industry coalitions, third-party political, advocacy, NGO, and industry allies to support strategic policy objectives.Collaborative Development and Team Support. Be part of the public policy team for a client, utilizing the firm's expertise and working closely with the client's legal, policy, and business lines. At more senior levels, manage and mentor junior team members and work with Partners and Principals to efficiently staff engagements and manage firm resources.About You2+ years of federal government, policy, or corporate government relations experience in the energy and/or transportation sector, with responsibility and scope of role scaling
