Job Description

Overview

The Food Safety Quality Technician at Schwartz Brothers Restaurants is responsible for monitoring the manufacturing and packaging of food products to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and that finished products meet all specifications. The role plays a crucial part in maintaining food safety and quality standards within the company's facilities in the Pacific Northwest.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor production of food, including ingredient, lot code, and process verifications
  • Measure product parameters such as weight, packaging, sensory data, and identity preservation
  • Initiate and release product/equipment holds for non-conformances or pending micro analysis
  • Record product data in the Product Grading Spreadsheet
  • Inspect all areas of the plant daily for equipment, sanitation, maintenance, and GMP issues
  • Monitor HACCP pre-requisite program compliance
  • Enforce current Good Manufacturing Practices and alert supervisors to ongoing issues
  • Verify daily HACCP records and other compliance checks
  • Perform calibration verification for scales and thermometers
  • Monitor pest control traps and record sightings
  • Submit work orders for FSQ related maintenance issues
  • Provide daily FSQ summary reports to supervisors

Required skills

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Previous experience in food safety or quality control (preferred)
  • HACCP certification (a plus)
  • Washington State Food Handler's Card (to be obtained within 15 days of start)
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends if needed
  • Multilingual skills (preferred)
