Job Description

Overview

Saltwater Inc. is seeking Fisheries Biologists to provide support for interagency consultations under various environmental acts. The positions are full-time, remote roles focused on evaluating environmental impacts on biological resources and preparing necessary documentation according to regulatory procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Review, gather, analyze, and synthesize scientific data for environmental impact assessments.
  • Write ESA Biological Opinions and MSA responses related to biological assessments.
  • Provide technical support and feedback on biological assessments from action agencies.
  • Prepare environmental documentation pursuant to NEPA.
  • Draft incidental take permits for ESA section 10 activities.
  • Coordinate with various agencies and researchers to evaluate species status and impacts.
  • Manage administrative records and responses to Freedom of Information Act requests.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders, including action agencies and tribal representatives.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in aquatic biology, conservation biology, fisheries management, wildlife management, or re
  • Three years' experience for Bachelor's or one year for Master's pertaining to ecological assessments.
  • Knowledge of salmonid life cycles and habitat requirements.
  • Proficient in English language composition and editing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in regulatory document preparation and implementing ESA and MSA regulations.
  • Skills in MS Office and Google Workplace applications.
  • Experience assessing human impacts on marine and anadromous species.
