Job Description

Overview

The Briar Team is looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to maintain and repair their construction vehicles in Sanford, Florida. This role is vital in ensuring that equipment operates safely and efficiently on construction sites, helping to minimize downtime in site development operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct regular maintenance and inspections on fleet vehicles
  • Perform repairs, rebuilds, and overhauls on heavy construction equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement solutions
  • Perform routine services such as oil changes and brake inspections
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair activities
  • Coordinate with team members to schedule repairs
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations
  • Order necessary parts and maintain tools and equipment inventory
  • Provide emergency roadside assistance when needed

Required skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance
  • Proficiency in welding
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and software for diesel engines
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Strong understanding of diesel engine and vehicle systems
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on diesel engines and vehicles
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various physical positions
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime if necessary
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with all safety regulations
  • Experience with fleet management software is a plus

  • Hourly wages between $25 and $35
  • Pay rate is weekly
  • Work hours from 5am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays
