Job Description

Overview

H&K Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Laborer to join the Landis C. Deck & Sons Division in Bernville, PA. The role involves performing various construction tasks in a utility capacity, requiring flexibility to move between duties as needed on construction projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Adhere to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Acquire tools needed for daily operations
  • Measure distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines
  • Align and block up under forms
  • Signal operators of construction equipment
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Mix and finish concrete
  • Position, join, align, and seal pipe sections
  • Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces
  • Assist with paving duties including fine grading and operating vibratory plate
  • Prepare tools and job setups for pipe work
  • Shoot and check grades using laser or conventional methods
  • Perform connection of pipe work and check for proper pipe slope
  • Complete other assigned duties as required

Required skills

  • One month of related experience and/or training
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills including ability to compute rates and ratios
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with heavy civil construction or road construction
  • Ability to fit test & use appropriate PPE
  • Physical capability to meet job demands including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Experience with OSHA safety compliance
