Job Description

Overview

The H&K Group is seeking an experienced Laborer to join their Landis C. Deck & Sons Division in Bernville, Pennsylvania. The Laborer will be involved in various construction projects, performing utility work and transitioning between tasks as needed to support project completion. The role requires adherence to safety measures and the ability to operate various tools and equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Acquire tools needed for daily operations
  • Measure distances, drive stakes, and stretch tight line
  • Signal operators of construction equipment for alignment and movement
  • Mix and finish concrete surfaces
  • Position, align, and seal pipe sections
  • Assist with paving duties including fine grading and asphalt shoveling
  • Perform job set up for pipe installation and backfilling duties
  • Check and ensure proper pipe slope
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • One month of related experience or training
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills for computing rates and interpreting graphs
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Fit test and utilize appropriate PPE
  • Meet physical requirements such as lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Preferred experience in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
  • OSHA or relevant safety certifications
