Overview

Takeda Pharmaceutical is seeking an Executive Director for the AIRx Program Lead in Biologics to lead the strategic direction of large molecule discovery programs. This role is set in a dynamic environment where artificial intelligence and innovative methodologies drive the discovery process at an accelerated pace, enabling the development of differentiated medicines.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple biologic drug discovery projects with urgency
  • Define and articulate program strategy for antibody, bispecific, and fusion protein modalities
  • Evaluate and prioritize biologic candidates based on scientific and commercial considerations
  • Facilitate rapid AI-enabled Design and Test cycles for protein engineering
  • Manage external CROs and CDMOs for protein expression and purification services
  • Represent Takeda externally for AIRx Biologics and evaluate external opportunities
  • Ensure timely delivery of programs with disciplined cost management

Required skills

  • Advanced degree in protein biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, immunology, or related life sciences
  • 15+ years of industry experience in biologic drug discovery
  • Proven track record of leading biologic programs to clinic
  • Deep knowledge of biologic drug discovery and development processes
  • Expertise in protein engineering principles
  • Strong AI/ML exposure and digital-forward scientific mindset
  • Understanding of large molecule DMPK and CMC considerations
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships
