Job Description: Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION STARS Charter School is a K-8 public charter school serving students in Moore County, North Carolina. We are seeking a dedicated Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher who values strong relationships, clear structure, and high expectations while supporting students with diverse learning needs. The EC Teacher at STARS works collaboratively with general education teachers, service providers, and families to ensure students receive appropriate supports and access to high-quality instruction. We believe effective EC services balance compliance, instructional skill, and a deep commitment to understanding each child as an individual. This position serves students across grades 5-8. Assignment and caseload will be determined based on licensure, student needs, and school structure. Responsibilities include:Provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities in alignment with IEPsCollaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and differentiated instructionDevelop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state and federal requirementsUse student data and progress monitoring to inform instructional decisionsCommunicate regularly and professionally with families regarding student progress and servicesCoordinate with related service providers and school staffMaintain accurate and timely EC documentation and recordsUphold school policies, expectations, and professional standards Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related fieldValid North Carolina EC Teaching License (or eligibility for licensure)Knowledge of EC compliance requirements and service deliveryStrong organization, communication, and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience serving students with disabilities across multiple grade levelsAdvanced degree and/or additional EC certificationsStrong problem-solving skills and flexibility in service delivery Compensation & Benefits:Salary aligned with the North Carolina State Salary ScheduleState retirement and benefits eligibilityFull-time, 10-month instructional position REQUIREMENTSValid North Carolina teaching license (or eligibility for licensure)Bachelor's degree in Education or related fieldStrong classroom management and communication skillsBasic proficiency with instructional technology and data systemsDemonstrated knowledge of content area and grade-level standardsAbility to complete all EC PaperworkABOUT THE COMPANY COMPENSATION & CAREER INVESTMENT At STARS Charter School, we believe great schools are built by great teachers - and great teachers deserve to be valued, not just applauded.
