Position Title: Engineering Inspector II - Capital ProjectsDepartment: Capital ProjectsJob Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $30.00 - $46.53 HourlyJob Number: TM042-03Location 101 NE 3rd Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301, FL Description: POSITION SUMMARY The newly formed Capital Projects Department seeks an Engineering Inspector II. Preference will be given to City Employees. This position leads inspection functions by overseeing and administering inspections and ensuring conformance to contacts, plants, specifications, municipal standards, regulations, bylaws, and other related requirements. The Engineering Inspector II also performs technical work in the inspection of public works construction projects and private development projects. An employee in this class is responsible for performing a wide variety of inspections in the engineering, infrastructure and construction field to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes and other applicable regulations. This job classification is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769. Closely coordinates with the project manager or plan reviewer on any construction issues and to offer solutionsProjects assigned may include the construction of buildings, sanitary sewers, water lines, street paving, stormwater, sea walls, sidewalks, and other infrastructure construction projects Performs inspections of construction located in the City right-of-way to determine compliance with approved permits and accompanying plansReviews approved construction schedules; verifies completed work of contractorsOrganizes data collected from the field; prepares organized technical reports of findingsReviews drawings for errors, omissions, and constructabilityReads and interprets construction plans and specifications; reviews various construction related documentsDetermines quantities of materials used; verifies amount of work completed for pay request applications; maintains daily records for the purpose of estimating costs and payments to the contractorInvestigates complaints, including road damage, stormwater issues, right-of-way, and utility constructionPrepares and/or completes correspondence, documents, forms, reports, and other grant related field activities to meet local, state, and federal reporting requirements in accordance with project fundingElectronically prepares reports and maintains inspection records of work performed and properly enters inspection data, including documents and images using provided hardware and software systems and equipment Inspects utility installations to determine compliance with approved permits, accompanying plans, and City standard details and specifications; areas include water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer piping and appurtenant facilities such as baffles, weirs, detention/retention areas, and exfiltration trenches.Inspects all work pertaining to drainage for public roadways, according to plans and specifications.Reviews as-built drawings, and construction costs against actual field construction.Performs related work as required JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT JOB REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent supplemented by technical course work in construction, engineering, estimating or related fieldA minimum of three (3) years of road, water and sewer, or other public infrastructure construction inspection experience.A minimum of 2 years inspecting capital projects.Depending on area of assignmen
