Overview

The Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant will provide critical care in a hospital emergency department setting in Salem, Virginia. This locum tenens position involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients, including adults and geriatrics, in a fast-paced environment with an annual ED volume of 45,000 patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide emergency medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department
  • Perform evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in accordance with EM standards
  • Collaborate with onsite physician team and support staff
  • Participate in consults, documentation, and coordination of patient care
  • Manage emergency procedures as required within scope

Required skills

  • Active Virginia license
  • Board certification in ABEM or AOBEM
  • Active DEA Certification
  • NCCA or ANCC certification for NP/PA
  • ACLS certification
  • ATLS proof for MD/DO
  • Recent Main Emergency Department experience
  • Ability to work day, night, and weekend shifts
