Job Description

Overview

CF Industries is seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide technical support and assistance on capital electrical projects at their Alvinston, Ontario facility. The role involves ensuring compliance within the Electrical Systems and supporting plant activities while fostering a commitment to environmental, health, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical support for electrical systems and capital projects
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, studies, and designs related to electrical systems
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, regulations, and best practices
  • Develop and manage single-discipline electrical projects
  • Participate in investigations of plant downtime and suggest actionable solutions
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Operations for equipment performance and preventive strategies
  • Liaise with Electrical Authorities
  • Act as a Senior Authorized Person to the Electrical System, including managing permits

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of national codes, industry standards, and government regulations for electrical installations
  • Experience in electrical engineering design, calculation, and analysis for chemical manufacturing
  • Familiarity with electrical system modeling software such as ETAP or SKM
  • Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems and IEC 61511 standards
  • Experience with microprocessor-based protective relays and networking
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification design and applicable regulations
