Job Description

Overview

Grand St Settlement Inc. is seeking a full-time Early Head Start Teacher to assist in planning and supervising services for a classroom of eight children, adhering to Head Start Performance Standards and relevant regulations. This evolving position requires flexibility as responsibilities may change over the two-year start-up phase.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Teacher in planning and supervising classroom activities
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in compliance with EHS and DOHMH regulations
  • Support staff in implementing programming that addresses individual children's development
  • Maintain developmentally appropriate equipment and materials
  • Ensure confidentiality of child and family information
  • Participate in regular team meetings and case conferences
  • Conduct developmental screenings and home visits
  • Collaborate with parents and specialists to support children's needs
  • Assist with recordkeeping and curriculum planning
  • Participate in professional development and evaluations

Required skills

  • AA in Early Childhood Education or progress towards degree
  • Completion of Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
  • Experience working with children aged newborn to three
  • Bilingual in English/Chinese, Albanian, or Spanish preferred
  • Ability to manage time and maintain written records
  • Skill in collaborative work and leadership
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds regularly
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards related to child development
