Job Description

Overview

The EHS Teacher at Grand St Settlement Inc. in the Bronx will assist the Lead Teacher in planning and supervising classroom services for children aged newborn to three. This full-time position requires flexibility and adaptation as the role evolves during the start-up phase of the program.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in accordance with EHS and DOHMH regulations
  • Support staff in planning and implementing programming that addresses children's developmental needs
  • Collaborate with classroom team to ensure children's goals and objectives are met
  • Maintain developmentally appropriate equipment and materials
  • Keep confidential records of child and family information
  • Notify Lead Teacher of any health or behavioral concerns regarding children
  • Assist in recordkeeping and curriculum planning for individual children
  • Participate in regular team meetings and parent meetings
  • Conduct home visits and parent/teacher conferences
  • Follow regulations regarding the prevention and reporting of child maltreatment
  • Engage in professional development and evaluation

Required skills

  • AA in Early Childhood Education or 90 credits toward the degree
  • Completion of Infant/Toddler CDA credential or formal coursework in child development
  • Experience working with families and children
  • Ability to work with children and families with special needs
  • Strong written communication and time management skills
  • Leadership and collaboration skills
  • Bilingual communication in English/Chinese/Albanian or Spanish preferred
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds
