Overview

Design Within Reach is seeking a Design Specialist in Chicago to combine design expertise with sales skills in a client-facing role. The ideal candidate will enhance client experiences by providing personalized design consultations and build relationships within the local design community.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive sales by delivering personalized design consultations
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and trade professionals
  • Meet and exceed sales performance goals and KPIs
  • Guide clients through product selection, space planning, and styling
  • Manage the full client lifecycle using CRM tools
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards in the store
  • Stay updated on product knowledge and design trends
  • Conduct in-home consultations as needed

Required skills

  • Experience in retail sales, design consulting, or customer success
  • Background in interior design, architecture, or related field
  • Skilled in client needs assessment and relationship building
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and design tools (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD)
  • Ability to lift 20+ lbs and thrive in a fast-paced environment
