Overview

Design Within Reach is seeking a Design Specialist in Portland, Oregon, to blend design skills with consultative selling in a client-focused environment. This role involves representing iconic designers and building relationships within the local design community while driving store success through personalized consultations.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive sales by delivering personalized design consultations and solutions
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and trade professionals
  • Meet and exceed sales performance goals and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Guide clients through product selection, space planning, and styling
  • Manage the full client lifecycle using CRM tools
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards in the store
  • Stay current on product knowledge and design trends
  • Conduct in-home consultations and attend off-site meetings as needed

Required skills

  • Background in interior design, architecture, or related field
  • Experience in retail sales, design consulting, or customer success
  • Client needs assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Relationship-building capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and design tools (SketchUp, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Ability to lift 20+ lbs
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
