Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist II at UNC Health is responsible for conducting complex procedures using Computed Tomography (CT) equipment to obtain and analyze diagnostic data for patients. This role requires collaboration with various healthcare teams to ensure accurate imaging for advanced diagnoses and treatment options.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct complex procedures and tests using CT equipment to acquire and analyze diagnostic data.
  • Assist the radiologist in high-risk invasive techniques such as needle biopsies and CT-guided procedures.
  • Evaluate patient contraindications and coordinate appropriate care prior to procedures.
  • Perform specific CT procedures such as CTA perfusion and trauma series while training junior team members.
  • Recognize and alert radiologists about abnormal scans and questionable findings.
  • Manipulate parameters for specialized exams including cardiac exams.
  • Analyze scan data to ensure comprehensive exams are completed with quality care.
  • Triage care for anesthesia exams and provide education for care teams.
  • Obtain and manipulate images according to protocols, performing 3D reconstruction and adjusting settings.

Required skills

  • Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science
  • Advanced registry in Computed Tomography
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible
  • Three years of experience as a CT Technologist
  • Competence in radiation safety and operating CT algorithms
  • Current competency in healthcare BLS
