Job Description

Overview

LESC is seeking a full-time Counselor in New York to play a pivotal role in the treatment recovery process for clients. The Counselor will provide counseling and supportive services aimed at promoting recovery and stability in clients' lives while ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and agency policies.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide counseling sessions as mandated by applicable regulations
  • Maintain all required documentation in the case record
  • Collaborate with Vocational staff to integrate vocational rehabilitation into treatment
  • Assist clients with public assistance or other benefits coordination
  • Link clients with necessary medical and psychiatric providers
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and meetings
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions

Required skills

  • BA in Human Services
  • 2 years equivalent experience
  • Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC-T or CASAC)
  • Knowledge of substance use and Methadone treatment
  • Basic counseling skills
  • Ability to work as part of a complex team
  • Multi-cultural sensitivity
