Job Description

Overview

Drees Homes is seeking a Cost Estimator for their Houston Division. This entry-level position involves costing, estimating, pricing, and maintaining estimating-related programs for residential homes within a reputable, family-owned home building company known for its employee care and success over 95 years.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates and purchase orders in a timely manner
  • Utilize estimating software to verify take-offs and resolve disputes
  • Update and maintain bid pricing from vendors
  • Work closely with vendors and subcontractors for effective communication
  • Obtain permits prior to construction and maintain relationships with municipalities
  • Create and distribute job packets upon completion of job estimates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Strong computer skills including Excel
  • Experience with estimating software such as On Screen Take Off and BlueBeam
  • Analytical and detail-oriented
  • Experience in Construction Management, Construction Technology, or related field preferred
  • Ability to read bid sets and architectural plans
  • Self-motivated and able to multi-task
  • Good communication skills with internal and external customers
  • Experience in a construction-related capacity preferred
  • Homebuilder estimating experience a plus
