Corporate and Physical Security Officer- All LevelsWork as part of a respected team of security professionals protecting the people and property of General Dynamics (GD) NASSCO and US Navy personnel and ships based at GD NASSCO. You will bring expertise, excellence and commitment to protecting some of our Nation's most valuable assets. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, exceptional customer service skills, heightened situational awareness, and thrive in a fast paced, continually changing environment. Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience is preferred.Essential Functions and Duties:Corporate and Physical Security Officers should demonstrate the ability to work independently, with little guidance and supervisionCPSOs will begin to develop leadership and mentoring skills, providing guidance and direction for junior officersCPSOs will develop and demonstrate the skillset required to serve as the shift lead officerCPSOs will begin to demonstrate mastery in each of the following behaviors:Display exceptional customer service and communication skillsAbility to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently, making effective decisionsMust understand, retain, implement and be able to teach all security procedures as outlined by the GD NASSCO and the US Navy, demonstrating responsible and dependable behaviorMust be open to change and able to adapt to new information and unexpected obstaclesMust maintain focus and situational awareness in a stressful environmentMust continually develop critical thinking skills necessary to mitigate actual and potential security threatsAssigned duties will include:Facilitate access to NASSCO properties at pedestrian gates, delivery gates, corporate offices, and warehousesInteract with visitors and employees, provide directions and respond to inquiriesScreen and bag check of incoming and departing employees and visitorsScreen commercial and industrial deliveriesPatrol duties, both foot and vehicleEnforce GD NASSCO parking rules and regulationsStaff regular and emergency telephone systemDispatch medical services, fire department, ambulance service and law enforcement agencies, assist responding agencies with facility entranceMonitor surveillance cameras and review archived footageDocument all incidents in objective and comprehensive reportsProgramming, Activation, and Deactivation of NASSCO temporary badgesCollate, author and transmit shift pass down reportsOther responsibilities and duties as assignedSkills and Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentMust posses valid California Guard Card or P.O.S.T certificateBe proficient in the English language (i.e. able to read, write, speak, and comprehend)Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local lawsExcellent customer service skillsExperience in the following computer programs: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and basic understanding of computer operationsMust have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive company vehicles and golf cartsMust be open to a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidaysMust maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per the GD NASSCO grooming standardsPhysical Demands:Frequent standing and walking throughout shiftOccasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbsOccasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and rampsAbility to work in various environments such as cold weather, rain, and heatBenefits:401K plan with generous company matchTuition ReimbursementMedical InsuranceDental/Vision PlansFSA and HSA AccountsPaid Holidays, Vacation and Sick LeaveCompetitive PayShift DifferentialOvertime availableUniforms and safety boots provided by GD NASSCOCalifornia Guard Card fees paid by GD NASSCOEligible for Navy Federal Credit Union products and servicesPayscale: $43,100 to $71,800General Dynamics NASSCO is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
