Overview

Our client, a leading Life Sciences and Biotechnology Manufacturing company, is seeking a Controls Automation Engineer (Rockwell PLCs) to join their team. As a Controls Automation Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting Manufacturing Operations and Process Engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive problem-solving mindset that will align successfully within the organization. Job Title: Controls Automation Engineer (Rockwell PLCs) Location: Lenexa, KS (Onsite) Pay Range: $42.00 - $45.00/hour What's the Job? • Maintain and troubleshoot Rockwell Automation PLC systems, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and MicroLogix platforms. • Support HMI/SCADA systems such as FactoryTalk View and Ignition to ensure reliable production monitoring and control. • Manage automation projects throughout the full lifecycle, from concept and requirements development through startup and operational handoff. • Diagnose and resolve control system, instrumentation, and electrical issues to minimize production downtime. • Develop technical documentation and collaborate with process engineering teams to improve safety, quality, and production efficiency. What's Needed? • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. • 3-5 years of hands-on automation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. • Strong experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley PLCs and Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000 programming. • Experience with FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, or similar HMI/SCADA systems. • Knowledge of industrial networking protocols, instrumentation, VFDs, servo systems, MCCs, and industrial safety standards. Preferred Qualifications • Rockwell Automation Certified Logix Designer (CLD) Certification. • Experience with ISA-88 Batch Control Systems. • MES and ERP integration experience, including SAP. • Robotics integration experience with FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or similar platforms. • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement experience. • Knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Cybersecurity.
