Overview

The Controller position at CFS is a strategic leadership role in a high-impact environment focused on the national real estate and senior living platform. The role involves shaping financial strategy, influencing executive decisions, and leading modernization efforts across financial systems and processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and elevate the accounting function across a multi-site portfolio
  • Oversee core accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and property-level accounting
  • Own the financial close process and ensure timely GAAP reporting
  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and audit readiness
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for decision-making
  • Manage cash flow, capital expenditures, and banking relationships
  • Drive systems improvements and automation initiatives to modernize finance operations

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience in property-level or multi-site accounting environments
  • Background in senior living, healthcare, multifamily, or real estate preferred
  • Strong command of GAAP and internal controls
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with systems such as NetSuite, Yardi, Ramp, or Sage Intacct
  • Hands-on, strategic, and collaborative leadership style
