Overview

The Conflicts & Risk Management Attorney position at Reed Smith LLP is a non-traditional legal role focused on analyzing and resolving legal and ethical conflicts of interest within the Business Intake Group. The attorney will evaluate new business against internal databases and conduct research to identify potential conflicts, with responsibilities including drafting conflict waivers and managing conflict resolution.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze conflict reports and draft detailed analyses
  • Facilitate resolution or avoidance of conflicts of interest
  • Draft conflict waivers, engagement letters, and related documents
  • Perform electronic research on legal issues and public records
  • Use internal and external databases to collect relevant information
  • Construct Ethical Walls as required
  • Review and negotiate vendor contracts
  • Assist the Director of Business Intake with related matters
  • Evaluate new technologies for the Business Intake Group
  • Provide assistance with conflict searches and internal client inquiries
  • Maintain updated procedures for the Business Intake Group
  • Devise emergency procedures for equipment failures

Required skills

  • J.D. and Bar Admission
  • Experience with conflict analysis preferred
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills to process large data sets
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload
  • Strong time management skills
  • Proficiency in PC and Windows applications
  • Knowledge of Intapp Risk applications is a plus
