Overview

The Conflicts Attorney at Lewis Search Group is tasked with evaluating and resolving legal conflicts of interest for new business intake, matter openings, and attorney onboarding. This role involves conducting complex conflict analyses, advising on risk and ethical issues, and ensuring compliance with legal and firm policies.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate and resolve legal conflicts-of-interest for new business intake and matter openings
  • Conduct complex conflicts analyses and provide advice on risk and ethics issues
  • Draft waivers, ethical screens, and supporting documentation
  • Review Outside Counsel Guidelines and engagement letters for conflicts-related provisions
  • Analyze conflicts for lateral attorney candidates and recommend resolutions
  • Educate attorneys and legal staff on ethical obligations and conflicts procedures
  • Participate in the conflicts on-call rotation and respond to emergency conflict checks

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar status in NY
  • Minimum of 3 years of conflicts or professional responsibility experience in a law firm
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal relationships and conflicts
  • Proficiency with conflicts and new-business intake systems
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills and consultative approach
  • High level of discretion and judgment
  • Strong attention to detail and client-service orientation
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
