Overview

The Community Support Professional at Beacon Specialized Living provides support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling lives. This role involves assisting consumers with daily living skills and serving as an advocate to ensure they maintain control over their households and finances.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide up to 40 hours of support per week to consumers in various settings
  • Assist consumers in daily living skills such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation
  • Facilitate transportation to appointments, outings, and visits as needed
  • Act as an advocate for consumers, ensuring their needs and preferences are met
  • Maintain complete and accurate progress notes and documentation
  • Attend professional meetings representing the consumer and the organization
  • Promote a safe and caring environment for consumers to learn and grow

Required skills

  • High School Diploma
  • Three years of experience working with consumers with developmental disabilities
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Crisis management and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to lift and transfer individuals and perform physical tasks
  • Proficiency in English for effective communication
  • Basic mathematical skills for task management
  • Computer skills for electronic time and record keeping
