Job Description

Overview

The Commercial Concrete Estimator at B&B Concrete is responsible for generating accurate bid proposals and conducting scope analysis for construction projects. This role includes estimating costs for new projects and change orders, as well as managing material purchasing and supplier relationships to support business development efforts.

Key responsibilities

  • Functions as Lead Estimator
  • Read and understand job bid instructions and specifications
  • Prepare a 'take off' of materials for job estimation
  • Estimate necessary labor, materials, and equipment costs
  • Review proposals and attend pre-bid meetings to determine project scope
  • Incorporate safety considerations during estimating phases
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors
  • Manage the buyout process in coordination with Project Manager

Required skills

  • At least 2 years estimating experience with large commercial self-perform concrete projects
  • Knowledge of cast in place concrete construction and related materials
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents
  • Familiarity with structural products such as joist, deck, stairs, and anchor rods
  • Proficient in Microsoft software applications including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with estimating software, particularly B2W software is a plus
  • Creative and results-oriented mindset
  • Successful internships or Project Engineering experience is a plus
