Overview

The Commercial Concrete Estimator at B&B Concrete will provide accurate bid proposals and scope analysis for construction projects in Jacksonville, Florida. The role requires evaluating labor, materials, and equipment costs to develop competitive estimates that help drive new business for the company.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate bid proposals and pricing estimates for new projects and change orders.
  • Read and understand job bid instructions and specifications to create material take-offs.
  • Estimate necessary labor, materials, equipment costs, and crane costs for projects.
  • Review proposals and attend pre-bid meetings to determine project scopes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, and general contractors.
  • Manage the buyout process in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Incorporate safety considerations in decision-making during the estimating phase.

Required skills

  • 2+ years of experience estimating large commercial concrete projects.
  • Knowledge of cast in place concrete construction and related terminology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft software applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with estimating software, particularly B2W, is a plus.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and self-motivated mindset.
