Overview

The Commercial Concrete Estimator at B&B Concrete will play a crucial role in providing accurate bid proposals and scope analysis for construction projects in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This position involves estimating costs for new projects, reviewing quotes, managing projects, and purchasing materials to fulfill the company's financial goals while also developing new business opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Function as Lead Estimator for projects.
  • Read and understand job bid instructions and specifications.
  • Prepare a "take off" of materials included in the job.
  • Estimate labor, materials, equipment costs, and provisions for profit margins.
  • Review proposals, specifications, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope.
  • Incorporate safety in decision-making during the estimating phase.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, and general contractors.
  • Oversee the buyout process with the Project Manager.

Required skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in estimating large commercial self-perform concrete projects.
  • Knowledge and field experience with cast in place concrete construction.
  • Strong communication skills for dealing with stakeholders.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents.
  • Knowledge of structural products related to construction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software applications including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience using B2W software is a plus.
  • Creative, results-oriented, and self-motivated.
