Job Description

Overview

The Coax Splicer at SQUAN will be responsible for splicing, terminating, and activating coaxial cables within various plant systems. This includes installing components and conducting signal testing while ensuring adherence to safety standards and maintaining documentation of work performed.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform splicing, terminating, and activation of coaxial cables
  • Build, maintain, and repair coaxial plant systems
  • Install and replace amplifiers, splitters, taps, and other network components
  • Conduct signal testing using appropriate equipment
  • Perform system sweep and balance, and troubleshoot signal issues
  • Read and interpret system maps, construction drawings, and work orders
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work completed and test results
  • Adhere to safety standards and operate company vehicles and tools
  • Collaborate with technicians, contractors, and engineers

Required skills

  • Knowledge of coaxial plant design and components
  • Familiarity with RF signal transmission and troubleshooting
  • Experience with sweep and signal testing equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and strand maps
  • 1-3 years of experience in coax splicing or telecommunications field
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and climb poles or ladders safely
  • Experience with fiber optic systems or hybrid fiber-coax networks
  • Certifications in NCTI, SCTE, or equivalent technical programs
