Job Description

Overview

The CNC Machinist - Lathe - Level II/III at HORST ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING CO is responsible for setting up and operating CNC Turning and Multi-Axis lathes to produce precision component parts. This role is available for both 1st and 2nd shifts, with 2nd shift offering a shift differential.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC Lathes (2-axis and multi-axis)
  • Work from blueprints and operation sheets to complete machining operations
  • Perform complex set-ups and make necessary adjustments to machinery
  • Assist other Operators or Set-up/Operators with production problems
  • Ensure compliance of manufactured parts to quality standards
  • Conduct visual inspections and verify dimensions using measuring instruments
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and maintain cleanliness
  • Document work performed and communicate any machining issues

Required skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent; technical school training a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of set-up experience
  • Familiarity with aerospace products and close tolerance parts
  • Experience with Fanuc and/or Okuma Controls
  • Ability to read and write comments and understand blueprints
  • Experience with standard gauges and inspection techniques
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Experience in a machine shop or CNC machining environment
