Job Description

Overview

The Clinical Supervisor - Med Surg at Mercy is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care through effective staffing and resource management. This role oversees daily operations, promotes a positive work environment, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support patient flow and improve care delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversees patient care delivery using the nursing process
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels and collaborates on patient flow and bed management
  • Serves as a leader, mentor, and role model; provides feedback and coaching
  • Promotes a positive work environment and staff engagement
  • Communicates effectively with leadership, staff, and providers
  • Supports regulatory compliance, policy adherence, and accreditation standards
  • Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives
  • Addresses patient concerns and supports service recovery

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current RN license
  • 3-5 years of hospital nursing experience
  • AHA Healthcare Provider certification
  • TNCC, ACLS, and ENPC or PALS certifications
  • Strong clinical and leadership skills
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
