Job Description

Overview

The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at CFS will play a pivotal role in developing and executing a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and strategic objectives. This position requires a collaborative approach to leadership and an ability to drive HR metrics and people analytics to inform executive decision-making while modernizing the HR function.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an HR strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide executive-level counsel on various HR topics to the CEO and Board.
  • Drive HR metrics and people analytics to demonstrate impact on retention and engagement.
  • Build and lead a talent acquisition strategy to attract mission-aligned staff.
  • Serve as the escalation point for sensitive employee relations issues.
  • Act as a coach on performance management and conflict resolution.
  • Oversee performance evaluation process and ensure timely evaluations.
  • Champion an inclusive workplace culture that aligns with organizational values.
  • Design and maintain competitive compensation structures and benefits programs.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and accreditation standards.
  • Maximize utilization of HR technology systems and implement new tools.
  • Support critical HR operations during peak periods and audits.
  • Continuously improve HR policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Lead training programs on various topics including leadership skills.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Master's degree and/or SHRM-SCP/SPHR certification preferred
  • 8-10+ years of progressive HR experience
  • 4-5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Strategic thinking and tactical execution skills
  • Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral health, or human services
  • Knowledge of employment law in Connecticut
  • Strong interpersonal and compassionate leadership skills
