Overview

The Certified Correctional Officer role at The GEO Group in Pensacola, Florida involves overseeing and caring for inmates while ensuring compliance with rules and procedures. Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor inmates in various areas
  • Coordinate inmate movement and conduct counts
  • Ensure safety during program activities and supervise labor crews
  • Conduct shakedowns for contraband materials
  • Maintain daily logs on inmates, including disciplinary reports
  • Provide assistance to injured or ill individuals
  • Report maintenance or repair needs to maintain facility cleanliness

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Correction Certification through FDLE
  • College coursework in behavioral sciences or related field preferred
  • Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity preferred
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Ability to handle physical and mental stress
