Job Description

Overview

The Buyer role at Rapid Deployable Systems, LLC involves procuring materials, managing suppliers, and supporting inventory management to ensure material availability and meet customer delivery requirements. The position requires collaboration with various teams and focuses on purchasing activities while developing knowledge of planning processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute purchasing activities based on MRP planned order requirements
  • Manage order placements and vendor delivery schedules
  • Maintain supplier information and item planning data in ERP/MRP system
  • Monitor supplier commitments and expedite materials as needed
  • Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Production teams for material issues
  • Support sourcing for domestic and international suppliers
  • Assist with inventory analysis and reduce excess or obsolete inventory
  • Track supplier performance metrics and purchasing reports
  • Review forecasts and demand information for purchasing decisions
  • Maintain supplier relationships and support continuous improvement
  • Support lean inventory initiatives

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or equivalent
  • Experience in military, government, industrial textile, or engineered product manufacturing
  • Experience with MRP systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP software
  • Strong supplier management and purchasing skills
  • Understanding of inventory control and material planning principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
