Job Description

Overview

STI Federal is seeking a Biological Scientist, Level 1 to support the Influenza Division of the CDC by providing essential laboratory support. The role involves various tasks aimed at the development and assessment of diagnostic methods and vaccines.

Key responsibilities

  • Pick up lab supplies from DSR
  • Respond to notifications of incoming packages from Stat lab
  • Unbox and verify inbound shipments
  • Pre-accession specimens
  • Assist with autoclave and waste removal
  • Provide shipment support for viruses
  • Offer buffer and reagent support
  • Transfer materials between buildings

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in life science
  • Previous laboratory experience/exposure
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Understanding of laboratory safety regulations (CLIA, ISO, OSHA)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
  • Exceptional organizational and documentation skills
  • 2+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related field preferred
