Job Description

Overview

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon, you will be pivotal in enhancing equipment reliability and operational efficiency within fulfillment centers. Your role involves troubleshooting control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and collaborating with teams to optimize material handling systems using advanced technology.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot automation systems critical for operations
  • Understand and manage material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks
  • Monitor MHE metrics and collaborate with maintenance and operations
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians
  • Perform and analyze building system assessments to improve system performance

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in PLC programming or automation engineering
  • Experience with process or production environment related PLC-controlled automation
  • Experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, robotics, control components, and automated equipment
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs
  • Experience with HMI and control network components
  • Experience with preventive maintenance procedures in industrial settings
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience programming with RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, FT View, and other controls software platforms
