Job Description

Overview

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon, you will be essential in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in fulfillment centers through proactive controls automation and technical support. You will work with advanced technology to ensure efficiency in the delivery of products globally.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining critical automation systems.
  • Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers.
  • Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address performance issues.
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians, locally and remotely.
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments to enhance material handling system performance.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience.
  • Experience with robotics work cells and control systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment.
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs.
  • Experience with HMI and control network components.
  • Experience identifying and troubleshooting motor controls.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance procedures in industrial settings.
  • Ability to interpret and develop mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Programming experience with RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, and FT View.
