Job Description

Overview

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon, you will be crucial to maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance within fulfillment centers. You'll provide proactive controls automation and technical support while troubleshooting complex control systems and analyzing performance metrics. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will optimize material handling equipment systems and implement innovative projects using advanced technology.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical for operations.
  • Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks.
  • Monitor MHE metrics and collaborate with maintenance/operations to address system performance issues.
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians, both locally and remotely.
  • Perform and analyze building system assessments to enhance material handling system performance.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 2+ years of PLC
  • Experience in PLC based controls design, development, implementation, and support.
  • Experience with material handling, flow and capacity.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems, both hardware and software.
  • Proficiency with HMI and control network components, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and programming.
  • Experience with motor controls, including motor starters and Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Knowledge of automated conveyor systems and electrical/electronic principles.
  • Experience interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience programming with RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, FT View, and other controls software platforms.
