Job Description

Overview

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon, you will be pivotal in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in fulfillment centers. Your role includes providing proactive controls automation and technical support, troubleshooting complex control systems, and collaborating with teams to optimize material handling equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical for operations
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers
  • Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address performance issues
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments to enhance material handling system performance

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience
  • Experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs
  • Experience with HMI and control network components
  • Experience with preventive maintenance procedures and industrial electrical controls
  • Ability to interpret and modify mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Programming experience with RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, FT View and other controls software
