Overview

Kaiva Tech is looking for an Attorney to provide support for the Office for Civil Rights by reviewing and processing civil rights complaints. This role requires a strong legal background and includes responsibilities such as legal analysis, drafting documents, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Review incoming civil rights complaints for eligibility according to OCR procedures
  • Conduct legal and jurisdictional analyses under federal civil rights authorities
  • Evaluate complaint sufficiency, timeliness, and legal merit
  • Recommend OCR case dispositions and support rapid resolution efforts
  • Maintain organized case files and documentation
  • Utilize case management and document management systems
  • Coordinate with complainants for necessary clarifications and additional information
  • Ensure compliance with federal privacy and information security requirements
  • Support quality assurance initiatives for legal documentation
  • Manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a high-volume environment

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction
  • 4+ years of relevant legal experience
  • Knowledge of federal civil rights statutes and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong legal analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and technical documentation capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic case/document management systems
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage high-volume caseloads
