Overview

The Associate Counsel, AI & Intellectual Property, at CFS will play a crucial role in supporting various commercial and strategic legal matters, focusing on intellectual property and emerging technologies. Working closely with senior leadership and other teams, this position aims to enable innovation while safeguarding the company's core technology.

Key responsibilities

  • Structure, draft, and negotiate a broad range of agreements with customers, suppliers, and strategic partners
  • Advise on intellectual property matters, including ownership, licensing, and technology protection
  • Partner with external counsel for patent strategy, IP diligence, and related efforts
  • Provide guidance on data usage, confidentiality, and technology-related contracts
  • Support legal aspects of vendor, manufacturing, and operational relationships
  • Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory considerations for advanced technologies
  • Develop templates and internal processes to streamline contracting
  • Translate legal risk into clear guidance for business stakeholders

Required skills

  • J.D. and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial transactions and technology agreements
  • Ability to independently draft and negotiate contracts
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with intellectual property and AI-related legal matters
  • Background with manufacturing, robotics, or advanced technology companies
  • Familiarity with patents, trade secrets, and technology licensing
  • Exposure to data privacy frameworks
  • Prior in-house or experience with high growth organizations
