Entry-level and first-year associates perform a variety of tasks under heavy supervision and should be familiar with standard legal concepts and procedures.ResponsibilitiesTypical duties of a first-year associateResearching and analyzing the law on complex issues and writing briefs for submission to a supervising lawyer in the firmAnalyzing and summarizing complicated legal documents, including contracts, and suggesting alterations to those documentsPerforming discovery of various electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for client meetings or in certain client files, litigationPerforming due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, and mergers and acquisitionsQualificationsJuris doctorate degree in law, or applying for North Dakota State Bar 2023Experience working with complex legal issues is preferred but not requiredMust be willing to work independently without direct supervisionAbility to perform research into various legal topics such that are relevant to the Maverick Law Group's area of expertiseDemonstrates strong analytical skillsStrong written communication skillsProficient computer skillsSelf-starter who can handle multiple projects simultaneouslyEffective time management
