Role Description The Assistant Volleyball Coach is a part-time, on-site role based in New York, NY, supporting the development and success of the Hostos Community College volleyball program. This role assists the Head Coach with planning and leading practices, teaching volleyball fundamentals and advanced skills, and implementing training programs that promote athlete development and safety. The Assistant Coach helps with game preparation, including strategy discussions, scouting opponents, and providing in-game guidance to student-athletes. Day-to-day responsibilities include mentoring team members, reinforcing academic and conduct standards, supporting recruitment activities, and coordinating with athletics staff on scheduling, equipment, and compliance with institutional and conference policies. QualificationsCandidates should possess strong Volleyball knowledge and Coaching experience. Candidates should possess Training and Education skills to support athletic and academic development. Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for working with student-athletes, staff, and campus partners. Experience working with college-level or competitive volleyball programs is beneficial. Ability to model sportsmanship, uphold institutional values, and support student success is expected. Familiarity with athletic safety standards, conditioning principles, and basic injury prevention is preferred. Relevant coursework or a degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Coaching, or a related field is advantageous. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on practice and competition schedules.
