Overview

The Assistant Men's & Women's Track & Field Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Alfred University will aid the head coach in teaching advanced skills and techniques in track or field events, with a focus on student-athlete development. Responsibilities include daily practice planning, coaching, mentoring, and achieving recruiting goals for the track and field teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in teaching advanced skills in track or field events
  • Plan and implement daily practices
  • Coach student-athletes to improve sport proficiency
  • Provide feedback and analysis post-competitions
  • Achieve annual recruiting goals for track and field teams
  • Market the track and field programs to recruit prospective athletes
  • Communicate with high school and club coaches about prospective students
  • Organize campus visits for prospective student-athletes
  • Attend track meets to identify recruitment candidates
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Complete routine office work and reports related to recruitment
  • Demonstrate leadership and adhere to institutional rules and policies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of four years coaching experience or collegiate athlete experience
  • Expertise in throws, jumps, vaults, or sprints preferred
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Knowledge of sport-related technology
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • CPR and AED certification
