Overview

The Assistant Cook at Guesthouse Hospitality Company plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences for guests in Truckee, California. This part-time position involves supporting the House Chef, maintaining kitchen operations, and ensuring cleanliness while preparing breakfast and lunch items.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and present seasonal breakfast and lunch offerings for guests.
  • Clean up after the previous night's dinner service and ensure the kitchen is ready for the next meal.
  • Set up and execute breakfast, including food items and beverage presentation.
  • Assist with lunch preparation, setup, and service following the House Chef's guidance.
  • Serve as on-site kitchen lead when the House Chef is unavailable.
  • Assist with ingredient prep, stocking, and light inventory management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the House Chef, House Manager, and Hub team.

Required skills

  • 1-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen or hospitality food service environment
  • Basic cooking techniques, plating, and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Proficient in basic kitchen equipment operation and food safety practices
  • Ability to work independently and make good judgments
