Overview

As an Applied Researcher II (AI Foundations) at Capital One, you will be integral in developing AI systems that enhance customer experiences in banking. The AI Foundations team focuses on transforming innovative AI capabilities into scalable and impactful products, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive research and deliver advanced AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to develop AI-powered products.
  • Leverage technologies like Pytorch, AWS, and VectorDBs to analyze large data sets.
  • Build AI foundation models through design, training, evaluation, and implementation.
  • Conduct high-impact applied research to advance customer experiences with AI.
  • Translate complex AI concepts into clear business objectives.

Required skills

  • PhD or MS in relevant fields (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics)
  • Experience in applied research or machine learning
  • Proficient in programming with open-source languages
  • Hands-on experience with AI foundation models and cloud computing platforms
  • Knowledge of training optimization, self-supervised learning, explainability, and deep learning methodologies
  • Experience delivering code for libraries or platform-level solutions
  • Publications in machine learning or relevant conferences
