Overview

The Applied Researcher I (AI Foundations) role at Capital One focuses on creating reliable AI systems that enhance customer experiences in banking. The researcher will collaborate with a cross-functional team to leverage advanced technologies and build AI foundation models across the research lifecycle, applying AI innovations to meet business objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Leverage technologies such as PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, and Hugging Face to analyze large datasets.
  • Build AI foundation models through design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
  • Engage in applied research to implement next-generation customer experiences.
  • Translate complex AI concepts into actionable business goals.

Required skills

  • PhD in relevant fields or M.S. with 2 years of experience in Applied Research
  • Experience with AI methodologies and building deep learning models
  • Proficient in open-source languages and cloud computing platforms
  • Hands-on experience with large language models and transformation techniques
  • Strong understanding of training optimization, model fine-tuning, and AI principles
