Overview

The Applied Researcher I (AI Foundations) role at Capital One focuses on developing trustworthy AI systems to enhance banking experiences. Situated within the AI Foundations team, the position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to analyze and interpret large datasets.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to develop AI-powered banking products.
  • Leverage technologies such as Pytorch and AWS Ultraclusters for data analysis.
  • Build AI foundation models through all phases, including design, training, and implementation.
  • Conduct applied research to integrate state-of-the-art AI developments into customer experiences.
  • Translate complex AI concepts into meaningful business objectives.

Required skills

  • PhD or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Experience in developing AI foundation models using open-source tools.
  • Knowledge of machine learning methodologies, including training optimization and self-supervised learning.
  • Hands-on experience with large deep learning models and their implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
