Overview

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking dedicated Anesthesiologists to join its newly formed Department of Anesthesiology. This role provides an opportunity to work in a physician-led environment focused on patient care, quality, and innovation, while also participating in a new Anesthesiology Residency Program and contributing to a collaborative teaching and training atmosphere.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide anesthetic care for a variety of cases including OB, neurosurgery, thoracic, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, and acute care surgery.
  • Participate in regional anesthesia, with a strong preference for experience in this area.
  • Collaborate with CRNAs and provide medical direction across all practice sites.
  • Teach and mentor residents and participate in academic development.
  • Serve patients across three facilities: Mary Washington Hospital, Stafford Hospital, and Fredericksburg Ambulatory Surgery Center.
  • Maintain a favorable call schedule with overnight call 1-2 times per month and 6-7 weekends per year.

Required skills

  • MD or DO with board certification (or eligibility) in Anesthesiology
  • Experience in regional anesthesia preferred
  • Strong clinical expertise across a broad case mix
  • Interest in academic medicine and commitment to teaching
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and patient-centered care
